Dallas, TX (BlackNews.com) - Dallas native, Kedra Dumas, appears to have it all - Masters Degree, CPA, College Instructor and so on. But even with her studded resume, Kedra felt something was missing. In the book, Kedra shares her battle to break the grips of low self-esteem and depression caused by the drive to live up to society's normal. Written in first person, Ishmael-Whom God Hears reaches into the recesses of readers hearts. The poems and essays explore the hidden taboos that so often silently chip away at ones self esteem.

For years Kedra documented her feelings and experiences for private readings only. However, after attending the God's Leading Ladies Program through The Potter's House church she felt free to publish her most private and intimate work. This book breaks the silence and challenges readers to begin their own personal journey towards healing.

"I realized that no matter how it looks on the outside, we all have struggles and subtle insecurities that can stop us from being all God made us to be. We've all gone through something thats not so pretty. I just want to reach out to let others know they're not alone," said Kedra. "For me-- its more than about book sales, its about a message of transparency and healing."

Looks like Dallas readers agree. Ishmael-Whom God Hears topped the bestselling charts hitting the #1 spot in the Dallas Morning News on Christmas Day.

When asked the purpose for her writing, Kedra refers to the following excerpt from her book:

"This brings me to the reason for my writing at all. My sole motivation is to help that person who is so depressed that they can lay on the couch on Friday evening and get up Sunday night only because their legs have gone numb from poor circulation. To help that person that feels so ugly on the inside that they cant understand how others can see promise and potential in them. That person who knows within that God is the source for healing, but has to fight through the traditions of man to find Him. I was that person and it does get better."
